Sinusitis relief

I am tired of waking up with pain and pressure in my face from sinusitis. What can I do?

The problem with over-the-counter (OTC) medications is that they can cause rebound congestion if used for longer than the recommended period, which is why you should never overuse them. Essentially, all the symptoms of sinusitis are the result of an allergen triggering an allergic response. Identifying the specific allergen/cause can help you to prevent an attack by keeping away from the underlying trigger.

Unfortunately, it can be difficult or impractical to isolate yourself from certain allergens, e.g. dust. Your best approach is to use antihistamines and corticosteroids to dampen your entire response to allergens. Long-term antihistamine tablets and corticosteroid nasal sprays can be used, often with good results, while short-term oral corticosteroids work well for severe flareups, although these should be limited due to potential side-effects.
